Updates On Status Of Immigration Reform (New DACA and DAPA)

05 May 2015

Author: New York Immigration attorney Alena Shautsova

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals is yet to rule on the issue of new DACA and DAPA. The parties presented their oral arguments on April 17, 2015. So far, the court is still considering the issue. On April 7, 2015 the Court ruled on old DACA lawsuit and found that the plaintiffs did not have standing to bring the lawsuit, meaning that the plaintiffs did not have any of their rights violated so that they could sue. As a reminder, the lawsuit regarding first DACA was filed by a group of DHS agents and the State of Mississippi. One can read the Court’s opinion here >.

Hopefully, the lawsuit regarding new DACA and DAPA will be over soon as well. As of May 4, 2015, however, there is still no decision and we just need to wait… Some more updates regarding DAPA/DACA lawsuit can be found here >.
